Publication of the introductory paper of the Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety (PDS) Special Series on ENCePP

The introductory paper Strengthening Pharmacoepidemiology in a Changing Research Environment of the Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety (PDS) Special Series on ENCePP has been published. This Special Series is led by Helga Gardarsdottir, co-chair of the ENCePP Steering Group. It will feature several articles that expand on key chapters of the ENCePP Guide on Methodological Standards in Pharmacoepidemiology, covering topics such as:

  • Target trial emulation & estimand frameworks
  • AI in pharmacoepidemiology
  • Impact research
  • Evaluating medicines in pregnancy & breastfeeding
  • Data quality
  • Data protection
  • Systematic reviews & meta-analyses of comparative safety studies 

The introductory paper, authored by former and current ENCePP co-chairs, reflects on how developments in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance have shaped ENCePP’s work. The full Special Series will arrive in early 2026.
